Tips for Success

I work with many women with young families, and I hear them saying the same things I used to tell myself just a few short years ago.

“My spouse doesn’t understand how busy I am.”

“I feel like a failure because I need help.”

“I have no time.”

“I’m tired.”

I know what this feels like. I still have bad days where I work hard to consciously shift my mindset to work through those feelings of guilt and inadequacy. The tips I share are pieces from my own life that I hope will help others become happier with themselves, both personally and financially. I hope this guidance will help you too.

If our personal life needs a pick-me-up:

  1. Give yourself permission to ask for help. No one can or should be on their journey alone. It takes a village!

  2. Incorporate self-care every day. It doesn’t have to be elaborate. For example, sit down to eat breakfast rather than eating on the run.

  3. Give some real thought to what motivates you to stick to a goal. Change is hard and will power gets weak over time. What can you do that will keep you motivated to accomplish what you set out to do?

If your financial life feels stuck:

  1. Control your credit cards! If you have more available credit than you need and you never want your debt to get that high, call the credit card issuer and have the limit lowered. You can also instruct them not to increase your limit unless you call to request an increase.

  2. Open a savings account, even if you have nothing to put in it right away. Set up a small automatic transfer from checking to savings that you won’t notice. Maybe $25 per week. It will accumulate faster than you think.

  3. Always take advantage of any employer match on your 401K. Never turn down free money.

I’d love to hear if any of this was helpful for you. Visit and schedule an appointment. We can build on your progress and get you to the next level!
